Hey J.C. Thanks for dropping by and leaving the comment! It's too bad you didn't enjoy the film more, but yeah, Dent really was the White Knight for Gotham, the flip side to the Batman. Characters like those do not pop up enough.

I agree, Drew -- I don't think the filmmakers behind The Dark Knight were interested in making a politically-charged statement about the Bush administration or its phone-sniffing obsession.

If anything, one of the (very) few things the film did well was showcase how a public servant could make a tangible, positive difference using legitimate and lawful tactics. The Harvey Dent character was a successful D.A. long before he collaborated with the movie's vigilante.
